INSIDE OUR SCHOOLS
Jada M. Paul, the 2021 Valedictorian for the Center for Independent Studies (CIS) Academy will begin her post-secondary education at the University of San Francisco with her planned major in Biology and career aspirations of becoming a Physician or a Physician’s Assistant.
By Felita Kealing
Jada joined the CIS family second semester of her freshman year of high school and found CIS to be a great fit. It was through CIS her interest in the Health and Mental Health profession grew.
As a CIS Timberwolf Jada was an active member of HOSA, the Health Occupations Students of America, a career and technical student organization for students planning to pursue health professions. Her leadership abilities were exhibited as the HOSA 10th grade Sergeant at Arms, the 11th grade Vice President, and as the HOSA President in her Senior Year. The HOSA experience led to a visit with Congresswoman Judy Chu in Washington D.C while at a leadership conference. She also explored her health interest as an Intern with Kaiser Permanente. She was also a member of the Lions Club LEO leadership program.
In addition to academics and volunteering Jada maintained continuous employment throughout high school including working at Old Navy retail; at the Smile Agency, a dental and orthodontic practice; and with the Terraces at Park Marino, an assisted living community.
Jada stated, “What I liked about the CIS Academy is that I could be myself without apology.” She also complimented the counselors and the Administration for continued support in her success.
