Roman Sailes is the valedictorian for the 2023 graduating class for CIS Academy in the Pasadena Unified School District.

Roman applied to and was accepted by Cal State LA, Cal State Northridge, Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State Dominguez Hills, and he’ll be going to Cal Poly Pomona this fall with a major in Computer Science.
He’s received awards such as the Principal’s Honor Roll for his freshman and sophomore years, the National Black Scholar Award for his junior year, and the Academic Excellence Award for his senior year.
Roman has been a part of the Bright Future Scholars program since 7th grade and recently graduated from it. Roman says “I’ve worked hard to keep up my grades and even though school hasn’t been easy, I’m proud of myself for making it this far. I’m very grateful to everyone who’s had my back and supported me throughout it. I plan to have a career in technology, in software, specifically video game development.”
