Along with volunteers, councilmember and PCOC Board Chair Tyron Hampton and Union Station Homeless Services CEO Anne Miskey helped carve the turkeys that will be served at this year’s Thanksgiving Dinner In The Park, which will be held at the Adult Center and will be the first sit-down dinner since the pandemic.
“We are honored to champion Union Station Homeless Services and the important Thanksgiving Dinner in the Park that serves over 4,500 meals,” said Pasadena Center Operating Company CEO Michael Ross. “As stewards of the Pasadena community and economy, it is a privilege to commit our facilities and resources to making Thanksgiving a reality for the rising number of people experiencing food insecurity. There are ways you can volunteer too. Together, we can make the holidays brighter for everyone.”
Thanksgiving Dinner in the Park started as a community potluck at Central Park, and has grown over the years to a two-week event. The turkeys that Pasadena Convention Center and Sodexo Live! prepared will be given out in a couple of ways – as reheatable meals for families to take home, or served as sit down meals to enjoy at the Adult Center (412 S. Raymond Avenue). Thanksgiving Dinner in the Park is presented by SoCalGas, with a generous donation of $30,000.
Union Station Homeless Services needs donations and volunteers to support their work year-round. You can shop their wish list, attend a fundraiser event, or volunteer for kitchen shifts and meal deliveries, and more at https://unionstationhs.org.
