Do you know an older citizen whose civic contributions deserve recognition? San Gabriel’s Community Services Department is soliciting input in determining San Gabriel’s 2026 Outstanding Older American, an annual award sponsored by the Los Angeles Commission for Older Adults and the Department of Aging.

This program is designed to seek out and honor persons 60 years of age and older who are actively involved in service to others in their community. This year’s theme is “Flip the Script on Aging,” which focuses on transforming how society perceives, talks about, and approaches aging.
Check the list below for criteria, then submit your nomination by Wednesday, January 21, 2026, by 4:00 pm. Submission information below.
The criteria for the Outstanding Older American is:
- Older Adult, age 60 or older
- Has not been honored at the event in previous years
- Has performed outstanding volunteer service for the San Gabriel Community. aligning with this year’s theme
- Selected recipient from the nominations will receive recognition at a council meeting, article in Discover San Gabriel magazine, social media post and and invitation to the LA County recognition luncheon.
To submit a nomination, complete the nomination form and email it to Desiree Gomez, Recreation Specialist, at dgomez@sangabriel.gov, by January 21, 2026 at 4pm.
