Residents of Sierra Madre are invited to help shine a spotlight on the volunteers, businesses and community leaders who make the city a special place to call home.

In a community message, Mayor Kris Lowe announced that nominations are now open for the 2025 Community Awards, an annual tradition celebrating individuals and organizations whose dedication and service strengthen the fabric of Sierra Madre.
Described as a “village of volunteers,” Sierra Madre thrives on the contributions of neighbors who step forward to serve, businesses that give back, educators who inspire, and residents of all ages who actively participate in civic life. From youth sports and service clubs to charities, commissions and local nonprofits, countless community members devote their time and talent to enhancing the city.
Now, residents have the opportunity to recognize those efforts.
Community members are encouraged to submit nominations for the following awards:
- 2025 Citizen of the Year
Honoring a resident who has benefited the city through volunteer service during 2025. - 2025 Business of the Year
Recognizing an outstanding Sierra Madre business that has operated locally for more than five years and has been an active supporter of the community. - Public Safety Award
Presented to an individual or organization dedicated to protecting and maintaining safety in Sierra Madre. - Community Youth Service Award
Celebrating a young person under 18 who has demonstrated outstanding service to the community. - Wistaria Award
Acknowledging a community partnership that helps provide programs and services citywide. - George Maurer Lifetime Achievement Award
Honoring a person or entity whose lifetime of service embodies the spirit of volunteerism.
City leaders say the awards are an opportunity to honor those who lead by example, whether through quiet dedication or bold initiatives, and to ensure their contributions do not go unnoticed.
All nominations should be submitted via email to HonorsDinner@sierramadreca.gov. Community members are encouraged to participate and help celebrate the individuals and organizations that continue to make Sierra Madre an extraordinary place to live.
