On May 20, 2023, at approximately 1:36 am, the Monterey Park Police Department responded to Atlantic Boulevard near the 60 Freeway overpass regarding a person laying down in the middle of the northbound traffic lanes of Atlantic Boulevard.

Monterey Park Police Department arrived on scene and found the individual unresponsive and appeared to have been struck by a vehicle. The Monterey Park Fire Department responded to the location and pronounced the person deceased at the scene.
This collision is an active investigation conducted by the Monterey Park Police Department Traffic Bureau.
