The Herb Diva
I can’t believe this is my 4th installment about herbs. Time really flies!
By Constanze Bonelli
Speaking of time, it’s all about thyme today. Another Mediterranean, well-known herb, thyme really is a little miracle in plant form.
Thyme to boost your immunity
As we are getting close to winter, we want to increase our intake of vitamin C. And thyme is packed with it. It’s also a great source of vitamin A. And its essential oil is a natural cough remedy.
Thyme to disinfect
Thyme has fungicidal properties and is therefore a great choice to use in your home, especially if you have children or pets. You can buy essential oils or thyme tinctures and use them around your house.
Thyme to fight acne
Thyme’s antibacterial properties have shown great success in treating acne. You can make a tea from the fresh or dried leaves and use it as a face wash. And it’s milder to use then the over-the-counter acne medications.
Thyme for a good night’s sleep
If you’re restless and can’t sleep, try drinking thyme tea. Combined with some honey it makes a delightful, fragrant beverage. It’s an herb tea packed with vitamins and antioxidants which makes it ideal to consume in the evening.
Thyme is so much more than just a culinary herb. I think it’s time you give thyme a little spot in your garden and start reaping its benefits!
In good health!
