‘Tis the season to reminisce about our childhood, family Christmas celebrations, and good cheer. It would not be Christmas–the season of giving and goodwill–without the opportunity to do what we can for our neighbors in need of support.
This year, Alhambra neighbors are supporting a non-profit organization that supports young mothers, ages 13-25, and their children, infant to 8 years old. All are invited to join in the effort with a donation of clothing, supplies, or a toy.
Generation Her is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in 2009 to address a lack of existing services for teen moms and pregnant teens. “We wanted to give teen moms a positive place where they felt loved instead of judged,” states the website introduction. The organization’s focus is to help young moms continue their education and secure financial independence while caring for their children. The wishlists from the non-profit families are as follows: books, wipes, baby blankets, toiletries for mothers and /or babies/children, and children’s jackets sizes 2T-5T for boys and girls.
In this corner of the San Gabriel Valley, at their annual Old Fashioned Christmas community gathering for the holidays, Alhambra neighbors will share some caroling, hot cocoa, and goodwill towards others. With or without a donation, visit 815 Lindaraxa Park North (access from N. Granada Ave., north of Main St.), which is lighted with thousands of bright and twinkling holiday lights for families to enjoy throughout the season. Festivities are on Saturday, December 21, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
