The Hidden Fortress
The Hidden Fortress, an Akira Kurosawa film, has been called one of the greatest action-adventure films ever made. Nicholas Barber with the BBC recently wrote that it was its “unusual blend of swashbuckling action and knockabout comedy, fairy-tale archetypes and war-movie grit” that fascinated George Lucas. As Lucas has often acknowledged, “he simply borrowed the idea” for Star Wars from Kurosawa’s 1958 samurai classic.
