The City of Pasadena’s Rent Stabilization Department (RSD) is building on the momentum of its first successful pop‑up event with the launch of ‘Chats & Snacks’ with a Housing Counselor, an ongoing series designed to bring rental‑housing guidance directly into Pasadena neighborhoods.

The free, drop‑in gatherings will rotate through community centers, libraries, and other local hubs, making it easier than ever for residents to connect with RSD Housing Counselors without an appointment. Whether you’re a tenant, landlord, or simply curious about Pasadena’s rent stabilization laws, each session offers a relaxed, welcoming space to ask questions, learn, and enjoy complimentary coffee and snacks.
“We know that getting to our office during regular business hours is not always convenient for everyone,” said Helen Morales, Director of the Rent Stabilization Department. “Chats & Snacks is about reducing barriers and meeting residents where they are. By creating a welcoming space, we hope to make it easier for tenants and landlords alike to ask questions and get the support they need.”
Each event offers one‑on‑one guidance on topics such as:
- Rent increases and allowable limits
- Tenant rights and responsibilities
- Landlord obligations under local law
- Resources that support long‑term housing stability
If a question falls outside the department’s scope, Housing Counselors will help connect attendees with trusted community partners who can assist.
With the first event already wrapped and more locations on the way, Chats & Snacks is shaping up to be a valuable new touchpoint for Pasadena residents seeking clarity, support, and connection around rental housing issues.
The series is free and open to the public. For more information about Chats & Snacks with a Housing Counselor or other Rent Stabilization Department services, contact the department at (626) 744‑7999 or RentStabilization@CityOfPasadena.net.
