It was a fun weekend sprinkled with eclectic events and lots of cool visitors adding to the flavor of the area and its fun events.

      Heartbeat City @ Farnsworth Park

      Heartbeat City at Farnsworth Park

The band Heartbeat City, named for one of the Cars biggest selling albums, faithfully re-created the look and sound of the Cars on Saturday evening at Farnsworth Park in Altadena.

The band rocked the house as part of the Summer Concert Series at the park. It was a fun evening with superb music and sound.

R&B, Soul and Funk music is slated for next Saturday, August 2nd, with the band Floyd & the Flyboys.

Share Faire at the ParkRipe Altadena: Share Faire in the Park

Normally you can find more than 20 varieties of home grown fruit and vegetables, at the monthly park share faires (a.k.a. park swaps) in Altadena. But, the hot weather managed to keep many indoors.

That didn’t stop a handful of families from the area to show up with their veggies and fruits and swap at this great event.

(R-L) Charley, a student exchange from China, came with Christie and her daughter Halie, from Altadena, to the Share Faire in Altadena Diane and daughter Katherine, rom Hasting Ranch in Pasadena, brought tomatoes, zuccini and lemons to the swap park Fruits and vegetables at the Share Faire in Altadena

Food trucks at Central ParkOld Pasadena Film Festival: The End (for this year)

The 1961 showing of “Lover Come Back” made the crowd laugh and warmed our hearts on Saturday night at One Colorado. What a great ending to a wonderful film festival weekend. The 1961 showing of “Lover Come Back” made the crowd laugh and warmed many hearts on Saturday night at One Colorado.

On Sunday evening, while the Japanese TV series “Gimme Gimme Octopus” was playing at the Armory Center for the Arts, DJ Dan Wilcox entertained the crowd at Central Park with his upbeat music infused with a touch of Middle Eastern flavor. Food trucks were there and a festive, yet relaxing, feeling filled the atmosphere.

We are sad to see this wonderful and well organized festival come to and end. We know the final curtain is not “final” and we are looking forward to another reunion next year. Here’s looking at you, kid.
