Pasadena has a new mayor…and it’s Terry Tornek.
Here’s the final vote counts cast in Tuesday’s runoff election:

According to City Clerk Mark Jomsky, there remains approximately 1,300 mail in ballots to be counted, plus whatever additional vote-by-mail ballots.
Vice Mayor Jacque Robinson congratulated the new mayor-elect and thanked her volunteers, supporters, donors and staff for their work on the campaign.
Swearing in
Mayor Bogaard will retire as the City’s top elected official on May 4, 2015, when Mayor-Elect Tornek is officially sworn in.

The remaining two year term of Councilmember Tornek (District 7) will be filled after he’s sworn in. An appointment made by the Pasadena City Council has to occur within 75 days after vacancy, according to city charter.**
* Approximately 1,300 mail in ballots to be counted, plus whatever additional vote-by-mail ballots are received by Friday, April 24, that must be postmarked by April 21 and signed and dated by the voter that shall be counted.
** Pasadena City Charter, Section 404 (Attachment B), VACANCY-APPOINTMENT, provides direction on the process to fill a vacancy on the City Council, as follows:
“If a vacancy occurs among any other members of the City Council, the remaining members shall within 75 days after such occurrence appoint a qualified resident voter of the unrepresented district who shall hold office until the office is filled at the next general municipal election. If the City Council cannot agree on one person to fill the vacancy, the replacement shall be chosen by lot.”
