This Fall The River Project introduced a rainwater harvesting program called WATER LA to Studio City. We kicked off with a free summer film series all about WATER; each screening was followed by a Q&A with a panel of experts.
We have since moved on to the Workshop phase of Water LA in Studio City, leading FREE workshops to show residents how they can CAPTURE, CONSERVE, & REUSE water on their own property.
The workshops have included a Site Evaluation workshop where we show neighbors how to measure/plot their property and find opportunities to capture/conserve/reuse water. We led a workshop on Building Healthy Soil & Grading for Rainwater Capture. We’ve shown residents how a curb-cut can catch dry weather runoff and rain, turning your parkway into a water capture device and native habitat. We’ve shown how drought-tolerant doesn’t mean dry desert plants, and we’ve installed a Laundry-to-Landscape Greywater System.
