UPDATE: Jan. 29 at 9:00 pm.

The final group of Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) schools and programs are set to reopen on January 30 following extensive environmental testing. The district has confirmed that the tests conducted at some schools have cleared, allowing for a safe return to classrooms. Full details at this link.

      By News Desk

The Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) has announced that several schools will reopen their doors on Thursday, January 30.

PUSD closed its campuses on January 8 due to the Eaton Fire, which burned through neighborhoods within the district. As part of a phased reopening, 10 schools and programs resumed operations on January 23, four schools and two programs reopened on January 27, and three schools will reopen on January 29. The remaining schools and charter schools are scheduled to reopen by January 30.

The schools and charter schools scheduled to reopen on Thursday, January 30, include:*

      • Altadena Arts
      • Octavia E. Butler Magnet Middle School
      • Eliot Arts Magnet Middle School
      • Mary Jackson Elementary
      • Longfellow Elementary
      • Webster Elementary
      • Marshall Fundamental
      • John Muir High School Early College Magnet
      • Pasadena High School (PHS)

Additionally, the children’s centers at Cleveland, Jefferson, and Longfellow will also reopen.

*If any unforeseen changes occur, the District will notify families and employees by 5:30 am Thursday morning with alternate site information. At this time, the District does not expect any schools to remain closed.

In a statement, district officials expressed their gratitude for the dedication and hard work of the thousands of individuals who contributed to ensuring the safe reopening of schools.

      Charter schools

Charter schools within the district have been offered space to resume operations. Space has been cleaned, and tested, with furniture ready for the following charter schools to reopen January 30; charter leaders will announce their reopening dates and times:

      • Aveson SL at Cleveland (Elem)
      • Odyssey South at Audubon
      • Rosebud at Don Benito

Aveson AGLA at Wilson (HS) and Alma Fuerte at Cleveland were previously cleared to reopen.
