Southern California Educators Visit SPUSD Schools

Instructional coaches and administrators from across Southern California visited Monterey Hills Elementary School and Marengo Elementary School on February 24 and 25, 2026, as part of the California Bilingual Teacher Professional Development Program.

The two-day visit brought educational leaders together to learn more about the district’s dual language immersion efforts. Principals Jessica Zavala and Noelle Fong delivered detailed presentations outlining the structure and success of the SPUSD Spanish and Mandarin programs.

Participants also engaged in classroom observations and guided discussions designed to deepen their understanding of effective bilingual instruction and support strong implementation of dual language programs in their own schools and districts.

The visits highlighted the strength of SPUSD’s Spanish and Mandarin dual language immersion programs and provided an opportunity to showcase best practices in action. District leaders expressed pride in the exemplary programs and extended their gratitude to the administrators, teachers, and staff whose dedication continues to support student learning every day.
