The San Gabriel Valley’s premier open streets series, for people of all ages on foot, bike, scooter, skateboard, etc., will return with two major events in 2025.
By News Desk
– First Twilight Ciclovia
On Sunday, June 22, 2025, the cities of Alhambra, San Gabriel, and South Pasadena will cooperate to host “Mission-at-Twilight,” an opportunity to celebrate the summer solstice in the SGV via foot, bike, scooter, skateboard, or other human-powered device.
The event will follow the popular, five-mile route connecting the San Gabriel and South Pasadena Mission Districts with downtown Alhambra. However, this time, there will be a twist: the event will take place from 3:00 – 8:00 pm on the second longest day of the year! The late morning Sunday start will limit impacts to morning religious services along the event route and allow late risers to enjoy what is traditionally a morning event. The SGV’s first ‘twilight’ ciclovia will also allow participants to enjoy a late lunch or early dinner on an iconic, car-free Route 66.
– Corazón del Valle
On November 2, 2025, the Cities of El Monte and South El Monte will host “Corazón del Valle,” their first open streets event in six years. The family-friendly event will feature a new route highlighting businesses on the Garvey corridor and connecting people to historic downtown El Monte, the South El Monte Civic Center, and the Jeff Seymour Family Center—home of ActiveSGV and the El Monte Bike Park! The event time frame is 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
People of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to save-the-dates, as there is no guarantee these wonderful events will be re-staged in the short term. Each event will provide the public with an opportunity to get active and explore some of the most culturally diverse communities in California, home to countless small businesses as well as some of the region’s best cuisine. Registration is not required, and attendees can start and stop, rest or dine, at any point along the route.
