      The South Pasadena Unified School District announced that Jennifer Simon, a fourth-grade teacher at Arroyo Vista Elementary School, has been named the district’s 2026 Teacher of the Year.

      Simon will represent the district in the Los Angeles County Office of Education’s Teacher of the Year program, which honors educators who demonstrate exceptional dedication, effective classroom practices, strong professional commitment, and meaningful accomplishments that positively impact their students.

      District officials also recognized several other educators selected by faculty and staff at their respective school sites as Teachers of the Year.

      The honorees include:
      • Jennifer Simon — 4th Grade, Arroyo Vista Elementary School
      • Cecily Phalen-Bartolome — 4th Grade, Marengo Elementary School
      • Janet Lim — Transitional Kindergarten, Monterey Hills Elementary School
      • Ani Atoyan — English, South Pasadena Middle School
      • Dave Baughman — Special Education, South Pasadena High School

      Officials expressed appreciation for the dedication and impact of educators who help guide and inspire South Pasadena’s children and young adults.
