Two women, Tracy Bachert and Tracey Lovejoy-Hernandez, met each other in most unusual circumstances.

Tracy placed an ad in the local paper about some vintage furniture items she wanted to sell. Tracey, an avid collector of such things, was drawn to the ad. When they met, they realized they both have daughters who attend the California School of the Arts in Duarte. Tracy is from New Hampshire; Tracey is from Arizona.
Restore, refresh and rehome
They found that they have something in common, their avid desire to collect vintage items, including lamps, furniture, sometimes furniture pieces, cabinet doors, wood, metal, clothing, and other classics. So often such items stack up and need to be recycled. Tracy and Tracey have developed a shared mission to restore, refresh and rehome vintage items they have collected. An inspiration for their shop is a thrift store in Mesa, Arizona, where vintage items are sold, and a portion of the money from purchases is donated to a group home for children.

Sierra Madre’s East Montecito Shopping and Arts District
Tracey and Tracy had been looking for a place to begin their project since August, 2019. The cozy area where they are setting up shop feels like just the right place for them. A brewery, a hair salon with guitar lessons, a wood shop, and a wellness center with yoga and meditation classes are some of the businesses which occupy Sierra Madre’s East Montecito Shopping and Arts District. Tracy and Tracey share skills in having collector’s eyes and experience in interior design. Caton’s Place, Resale Boutique, displays their collective creative energy in motion.
Caton’s Place officially opened to the public on May 12. The spacing is limited inside the store, so visits will be limited to 2-4 people at a time. You can call (603)623-8985 to schedule a time to get together at the shop, or just stop by. Meet and greet friends and neighbors, with proper social distancing. Their regular hours of business will be Tuesdays through Thursdays 11-5, Fridays and Saturdays 11-7.
