Pasadena to Replace 25,000 Square Feet of Sidewalk

The City of Pasadena Public Works Department has identified damaged sidewalks across the city following a comprehensive survey of Pasadena’s sidewalk infrastructure.

On November 24, 2025, the Pasadena City Council approved a contract with a construction company to carry out the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Sidewalk Improvement Project. The project will remove and replace approximately 25,000 square feet of sidewalk at about 206 locations, all within CDBG-eligible areas.

Sidewalk repairs are being prioritized using criteria developed by the City of Pasadena Accessibility and Disability Commission. The criteria focus on locations with significant vertical sidewalk displacement, areas with high pedestrian activity, streets with heavy traffic, and sites where residents have reported accessibility concerns related to the Americans with Disabilities Act.

City officials reported that approximately 28% of the identified repair locations fall within CDBG service areas.

The improvements are expected to enhance pedestrian safety, accessibility, and stormwater drainage in surrounding neighborhoods.

Construction began in early March, and the project is expected to be completed by July 2026.
