On the western side of town, directly across from the “Alhambra” neon sign marking the entrance from El Sereno, a bright pink building beckons passersby to a unique artist haven.

      By Ari Gutierrez Arambula

The Goddess Mercado Boutique opened in 2021, during the COVID shutdown, as a welcoming space showcasing colorful, creative craft gifts.

The consortium of artists are led by Diana Diaz, who says, “We believe that all members of our community and beyond have the right to a safe space where they can work and support each other’s growth.” With a new store in Montebello and pop-up locations at the East L.A. Civic Center and Alhambra Renaissance Plaza, the artisan members take turns tending to the stores and events, while contributing locally-sourced, one-of-a-kind creations. The consortium offers free business development workshops covering art, culture, healing, and wellness.

The boutique features a curated collection of brilliant, creative, thoughtful, and personally matched gifts for the goddess(es) in your life. This holiday season, whether you’re shopping for co-workers, a wife, mom, daughter, or best friends, it’s a wonderful opportunity to support women artists who are also entrepreneurs. Each purchase contributes a percentage toward the development of women-owned businesses.

Open Wednesday to Sunday, 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm, at 5384 Huntington Drive, El Sereno, CA 90032. For more information, follow the Goddesses on Instagram: @thegoddessmercadoboutique.
