On Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 11:37 pm, a South Pasadena Police Officer conducting a routine patrol in the 1800 block of State Street saw a vehicle with many multiple equipment violations.

The officer conducted an enforcement stop and contacted the driver, 34-year-old Darnell Jack of Pasadena. Mr. Jack was the sole occupant of the vehicle. Upon further investigation, the officer noticed what appeared to be a black handgun on the rear floorboard within the driver’s reach. Mr. Jack was removed and arrested without incident.
The firearm on the rear floorboard was recovered and found to be fully loaded with a round in the chamber. A second loaded handgun was found underneath the front passenger seat. Both firearms were determined to be improperly registered in California.
It was later determined that Darnell Jack is a convicted felon with a murder conviction and therefore prohibited from possessing firearms. He was booked on felony weapons charges at the Alhambra City Jail and will be held until his court appearance.
