On February 23, 2024, at about 11:21 am, South Pasadena Police Officers responded to the 800 Block of Park Avenue (Garfield Park) for a verbal confrontation between two parties.

As officers were responding, the incident escalated into a shooting. On arrival, officers determined that a single shot had been fired from Park Avenue into Garfield Park. No one was struck, and the shooting suspect entered a vehicle and fled from the area.
The shooting suspect was described as a Hispanic male, wearing a pink hooded sweatshirt and a balaclava-type “ski mask.” There were possibly two other males wearing dark hooded sweatshirts in the vehicle The vehicle they fled in was described as an older model blue Toyota Camry with rear traffic collision damage. Later investigation discovered the license plate number of the vehicle.
The vehicle and driver were located in the Northeast area of the Los Angeles area, and a single juvenile suspect has been arrested and is now in custody. South Pasadena Police Detectives are currently searching for the two outstanding subjects. The investigation is ongoing. The Garfield Park area has been re-opened for public use.
