THE HERB DIVA
As I sit down to write about yet another one of my favorite herbs, I realize that they are all native to the Mediterranean.
By Constanze Bonelli
My parents loved to travel, especially to Italy and Spain. Maybe my love for all these herbs comes from those travels. Rosemary is probably most known for its culinary uses. Who hasn’t eaten rosemary roasted potatoes or a fresh baked bread sprinkled with olive oil and this aromatic herb?
Did you know that rosemary is a member of the mint family, along with oregano, thyme, basil and lavender? It has been used for its medicinal properties since ancient times, to alleviate muscle pain, boost the immune system, and even to promote hair growth. This is very intriguing.
Rosemary is definitely one more herb that needs to be added to your herb garden! We’ll, I’m off to bake a nice loaf of focaccia bread with fresh rosemary, of course!
To your health!
