      Gary Blankenship

      making
      a resolution broken
      many times
      to be kept this time
      or made yet again

Gary Blankenship published his 4th book, Poetic States, in 2014. He resolves to publish his next book, A Single Drop Of Blood, by winter’s end of 2015. Gary, an artist and poet, grows and loves dandelions and roses in Bremerton, WA.

      Mariko Kitakubo

      a seed
      was planted by me
      tanka fields trembled
      in the golden breeze

Mariko Kitakubo is a tanka* poet who lives in Tokyo. She is a reading performer who says “I’d like to plant the tanka seeds worldwide.” Mariko visits Pasadena often to meet with tanka poets/friends who grew from those seeds!

*Tanka is the oldest literature of Japan, born 1400 years ago.

      Michele L. Harvey

      the unbroken sweep
      of new snow…
      my mind made up
      to love what is
      and not what isn’t

Michele L. Harvey, a professional landscape painter, lives half the year in rural central NY and the other half in New York City, providing a lively contrast. Michele has determined to experience the sunlight and shadow of life, where her art is the residue of time’s passing.

Barbara Kaufmann, retired from nursing in 2012, has been creating Japanese short form poetry. She draws inspiration from the beaches, woods and gardens near her home in New York. This year, with lots of time for writing, walking and running after grandchildren, Barbara has resolved to spend most of her time ‘sipping’ the present moment! Her haiga combines her image and poem.
