By unanimous decision, the PTA Council of PUSD voted during its Fall Association Meeting to officially endorse the campaign for Measure R, the 2024 general obligation bond measure and Measure EE – the 2024 parcel tax, both benefiting the Pasadena Unified School District, and which appear on the November 5, 2024 general election ballot.

PTA Council of PUSD had formed a study committee consisting of Council Advocacy Chair Kitty Cahalan, Blair PTSA President Denise Robb, Council Communications Officer Scott Harden, Council Reflections Chair Danny Ramirez and Council President Mae Koenig-Seng to impartially review the arguments for and against the measures and determine proper authority for PTA Council to endorse the measures. The committee ultimately recommended passage of a motion to endorse both measures, which the Association at-large approved at their meeting on Monday, October 21 at Field Elementary School in Pasadena.
Committee Chair Cahalan said in a statement after the vote, “PTA Council of PUSD recognizes the importance of having the funding to update our schools’ facilities and infrastructure and continue to maintain strong programs for our kids. We are grateful to the members of the Council Association for their vote to approve our recommendation for endorsement and we invite the public to learn more about the measures at the campaign website investinpusdprogress.com.”
