Now in its second year, the scholarship is awarded annually to outstanding CIS graduates. Last year’s recipient was CIS Class of 2024 Valedictorian Joshua Tyebkhan.
This year, the scholarship has been awarded to CIS Class of 2025 graduates Joseph Triplett and Leo Conyers.
Joseph Triplett, the son of Dominique Ramirez and brother of CIS student Aubrey Triplett, was recognized for his exceptional work ethic, personal responsibility, and consistency. According to his mentor teacher, these qualities enabled him to complete his graduation requirements in just three years instead of the typical four. Joseph is currently exploring several post-secondary options, including courses at Pasadena City College (PCC).
Leo Conyers, son of Pasadena Educational Foundation Executive Director Patrick Conyers and Angela Morales, and brother of UC Davis doctoral student Mira Conyers, also received the scholarship. CIS Principal Torres described Leo as a prototypical CIS student—someone who pursued his own path at his own pace. After attending Leo’s senior defense presentation, CIS Senior Defense Coordinator Phil Quaranta praised the depth and richness of Leo’s high school experiences. Leo plans to complete the automotive certification program at PCC, which he began while still in high school.
