In a recent announcement, David M. Reyes, General Manager of Pasadena Water and Power, revealed that new electric vehicle (EV) charging rates will take effect at all City-owned Power Up Pasadena charging stations starting November 12, 2025.

This adjustment aligns with the Fiscal Year 2026 General Fee Schedule, which was adopted by the City Council on June 16, 2025.
The updated rates are as follows:
- $0.25 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) during off-peak hours
- $0.30 per kWh during peak hours (from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm)
These changes reflect current market conditions and rising operational costs, according to PWP. However, all other fees outlined in the General Fee Schedule will remain unchanged.
The city is also conducting a comprehensive electric rate study, expected to conclude in early 2026. The study will evaluate Pasadena’s electric rates and provide recommendations for the City Council’s consideration.
Pasadena Water and Power encourages residents to visit their website for more information on their EV programs, which include a map of charging stations, maintenance updates, and incentives. Additional details on the ongoing electric rate study can be found on the PWP website or at EngagePWP.org.
