The Pasadena Police Department has released its updated Military Equipment Use Policy and Inventory List in compliance with Assembly Bill 481 (AB 481), a California law that governs the use of military-style equipment by local law enforcement agencies.
By News Desk
AB 481, which took effect on January 1, 2022, requires law enforcement agencies to develop and maintain a comprehensive policy for each item of military equipment in their possession.
The policy must detail the quantity, capabilities, purchase cost, intended purpose, authorized uses, and fiscal impact of each item. It must also be approved by the agency’s governing body and remain publicly accessible for as long as the equipment is in use.
Pasadena Police Department’s Military Equipment Use Policy (Policy 711), along with the most recent Annual Military Equipment Report for 2024–2025, is available on the department’s official website.
