At the 2024 Congressional Leadership of the Year Awards Ceremony, Rep. Judy Chu recognized Lori Touloumian, Marshall Fundamental Principal, as Educator of the Year!

Under Principal Touloumian’s leadership, Marshall launched innovative programs like “Summer SOAR” and revitalized arts programs, which helped Marshall students succeed and achieve a 97% graduation rate.
“I am incredibly honored and humbled to be receiving the Educator of the Year award,” stated Ms. Touloumian. “In 25 years, whether as a teacher, coordinator, assistant principal, or principal, one aspect remains true: it is a privilege to have an impact on a child’s education. That my work has the ability to have a positive influence on a student’s educational journey and future – in my opinion – is the greatest gift.”

- Cancer Support Community Greater San Gabriel Valley – Non-Profit of the Year
- Flintridge Center – Non-Profit of the Year
- Ed Donnelly – Highland Park – Volunteer of the Year
- Joey Galloway –– – Businessperson of the Year
- Randy Lopez – Claremont – Building Bridges
- SGV LGBTQ Center – Arcadia – Community Activists Award
- Sophia Lee – La Cañada – Youth of the Year
The Congressional Leadership of the Year Awards is an annual event recognizing the diverse leadership and volunteerism in the cities making up California’s 28th Congressional District. Award recipients were selected because of the commendable work they have accomplished in their respective fields.
