The performance, titled Escape to the Movies, promises a thrilling live tribute to beloved Hollywood soundtracks, featuring seventeen musicians, eight dancers, and six singers.
The event marks the first show of the season for Lineage, which recently celebrated its 25th year serving the Pasadena community. Founded and still led by Artistic Director Hilary Thomas, Lineage has evolved from a dance company into a full-scale performing arts center, integrating music, theatre, and movement. A recent review of their production of Cabaret praised the center’s intimate and powerful performances, calling the experience “visceral.”
The Paul McDonald Big Band, a fixture in the Los Angeles music scene for over 30 years, brings a bold and dynamic sound to the stage. Known for McDonald’s explosive arrangements that blend traditional big band jazz with a contemporary twist, the ensemble continues to highlight the depth and versatility of some of L.A.’s top musicians.
Audiences can expect a dazzling collaboration that marries McDonald’s musical flair with Thomas’s emotive choreography. With a cast of stellar dancers and vocalists, the performance is poised to deliver a sweeping journey through cinematic history — all brought to life in an intimate setting.
Tickets are now available, with general reserved seating priced at $40 and student/senior reserved seating at $30.
