Do you want a home or office with cleaner air? Lower energy bills? A safe way to stay cool when it’s really hot outside? Heat pumps can help!

A heat pump is a machine that moves heat from one place to another. In summer, it pulls heat out of your home or office to make it cooler. In winter, it brings heat from the outside air into your space to make it warmer.
Heat pumps run on electricity, not gas. They can both heat and cool your home, so you don’t need a separate heater and air conditioner. This is especially helpful in Southern California, where many families don’t have air conditioning. In Los Angeles, about 1 in 3 people still don’t have AC at home.
New Money-Saving Rebates
The South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) is offering $21 million to help families and small businesses get heat pumps. The program, called Go Zero, offers the following key benefits:
- You can receive $1,000–$2,000 back for each heat pump you buy.
- Families in areas with higher pollution levels can receive up to $3,000.
- Small businesses are eligible for up to $4,000.
Help is available for filling out applications. You can combine Go Zero rebates with other programs like TECH Clean California to save even more. And if you have your heat pump or heat pump water heater installed by December 31, 2025, you may still be eligible for a federal tax credit of up to $2,000.
Why Heat Pumps Are Great
- Cleaner Air: Gas heaters and water heaters produce air pollution that can harm our lungs. Heat pumps don’t burn gas, so they keep the air cleaner inside, and outside, helping us all breathe easier.
- Lower Bills: Heat pumps use less energy, which means smaller, more stable monthly bills. Gas prices can spike, but electricity costs tend to be steadier.
- Better for the Planet: Heat pumps reduce climate pollution.
- Stay Safe in Hot Weather: Summers are getting hotter. Heat pumps keep your home cool and comfortable, even during dangerous heat waves.
A healthier home with cleaner air. More predictable energy costs. Greater protection from extreme heat. Just a few of the benefits of transitioning from gas-powered furnaces and water heaters to a modern heat pump!
