Jessica Kubzansky, a Founding Artistic Director of Boston Court Pasadena (BCP), will become its sole Artistic Director beginning January 1, 2020.
General Manager Cheryl Rizzo has also been named Managing Director effective immediately. Kubzansky and Rizzo will co-lead the organization and both will report to the Board of Directors.
Current Co-Artistic Director (Theatre), Michael Michetti, and Mark Saltzman (current Artistic Director, Music), will co-lead with Kubzansky through 2019, and then will continue as core collaborators going forward.
“We are thrilled to have Jessica Kubzansky and Cheryl Rizzo bring their expertise, vision, and institutional history to their new and expanded roles, and know that they are the best possible choices to continue and build on our history of success,” said Edward Rada, Chair of BCP Board of Directors.
On her social media page, Kubzansky said:
I could not be more honored to lead this institution I’m so passionate about into our thrilling next chapter. What Boston Court has accomplished in our first 16 years of existence is a source of enormous pride, and it has been such a privilege to do so with Michael Michetti and Mark Saltzman, who have been such momentous partners. It’s a joy to carry it forward.
New Schedule
BCP programming, which has previously operated on a calendar year season, will move to a traditional fall-to-fall performance season starting with 2020/2021. According to a press release by the theatre, “This shift in the programming calendar will bring us into alignment with the majority of arts organizations in Los Angeles and across the country.”
Also, Boston Court Pasadena teased about a Bonus Series in Spring of 2020, consisting of a large-scale theatre production that Michael Michetti will direct and a richly diverse series of concerts.
