On Tuesday, December 2nd, First District Supervisor Hilda L. Solis will officially assume the role of Chair of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors during the Board’s regular meeting.

The meeting, which is open to the public, will also feature a special performance by the dA Center’s Mini Mariachi youth program from Pomona. This vibrant cultural performance will celebrate the rich cultural pride, presence, and joy of the First District. Both the leadership transition and the performance will be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person.
Solis, who represents Los Angeles County’s First District, will take over as Chair as part of the Board’s annual organizational process. As Chair, Solis will guide the Board’s efforts to tackle critical issues such as public health, housing, and social equity throughout the county.
A lifelong resident of the San Gabriel Valley, Hilda L. Solis is the daughter of immigrant parents from Nicaragua and Mexico. Her career in public service began on the Rio Hondo Community College Board of Trustees and extended through the California State Assembly, State Senate, and U.S. House of Representatives. In 2009, Solis made history as the first Latina appointed to a U.S. presidential cabinet, serving as Secretary of Labor under President Barack Obama.
Currently, Solis represents Los Angeles County’s First District, which spans from East Hollywood to Pomona in the East San Gabriel Valley. As Chair of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, Solis continues her legacy of leadership and commitment to the diverse communities of Los Angeles County.
