Effective immediately, the fire danger level has increased to CRITICAL at the Angeles National Forest, which includes the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument.

The temporary closure of the forest, announced on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, and extending through Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 12:00 midnight (end of day) is tied to critical fire danger.*
During this time, the following acts are prohibited within the Angeles National Forest and San Gabriel Mountains National Monument:
- Going into or being on the Angeles National Forest.
- Being on any National Forest System Road within the Angeles National Forest.
- Being on any National Forest System Trail within the Angeles National Forest.
- Persons with a valid California Campfire Permit are not exempt from the prohibitions listed above.
A violation of the law can result in a $5,000 fine and/or six months in jail. Anyone causing a wildfire is liable for all costs of suppressing the fire.
*Fire danger levels are subject to change with weather and fire activity on the forest.
