Colorado Boulevard Newspaper’s satirical article, “Pasadena Mayor, Victor Gordo, Volunteers To Solve the Middle East Conflict,” claimed first place in the Satire category, beating entries from prominent publications including Variety, Jewish Journal, and Los Angeles Downtown News. Judges’ comment: “A biting satire of the self-importance of one municipality officeholder.”
Another Colorado Boulevard Newspaper standout, “Spooky Tunnels Under the Caltech Campus” by Sharon Hawley, earned third place in its respective category, further showcasing the paper’s range and narrative creativity.
The ceremony, held at the historic Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, drew more than 550 journalists to a sold-out gala celebrating the best in Southern California journalism. The 2025 awards recognized work published during the 2024 calendar year.
