The April 2024 Altadena Town Council meeting covered a number of projects and subjects.
By Nic Arnzen
Noteworthy are the upcoming bus stop shelter replacements, the pavement project along Washington Blvd. and Altadena Drive, and filling the open seat on the Town Council.
Bus stop shelters
The bus stop shelters project will be the first of four phases. There will be more shelters replaced in the future. For this phase construction will last from 12/10/24 through 3/6/25. During that time expect one-week closures at a number of shelters. There will also be closures to one lane of traffic in front of those shelters. Closure notices will be posted at least 72 hours in advance.
Resurfacing project
Speaking of closures, the Altadena Dr./Washington Blvd. road resurfacing project will begin May 6th. The first part of the work will be on Washington Blvd. near Webster Elementary. Work will intensify once school is out in early June and will finish by the time school resumes in August. The project will continue along Washington Blvd. and is estimated to move onto Altadena Dr. in early 2025. Roads will be rough until the final stages of the project when the new smooth surface will be laid down in one final phase for continuity and seamless lengths.
You can look for more community information and feedback sessions this fall focusing on the Altadena Dr. portion of the project.
Council will fill the open seat in May
With the resignation of Councilmember Alan Peck, there is a vacant seat on the Council for Census Tract 4611. There will be a special election held at the Council meeting in May when Council Members will choose the new member by majority vote.
Applications for residents of Tract 4611 looking to fill this spot and join the Council can be found on the ATC website at AltadenaTownCouncil.org or by reaching the Election Committee Chair at chris.omalley@altadenatowncouncil.org.
