The Altadena Town Council December meeting was a festive blend of tradition, heartfelt gratitude, and a look forward to a bright 2025.

      By Isis Moulden

The meeting kicked off with a flag presentation by Altadena’s very own Scout Troop One. Boys and girls from this historic troop—founded in 1914 and 2019, respectively—exemplified the principles of service and community. The Color Guard’s precision and the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance reminded all of the importance of unity.

Council Chair Victoria Knapp expressed gratitude to the Council members, committees, and community partners who worked tirelessly throughout 2024. Special thanks went to Public Safety Partners, Supervisor Barger’s office, and local organizations like the Altadena Rotary Club, Altadena Library District and the Chamber of Commerce for their contributions.

The Council bid farewell to outgoing Council members Chris O’Malley and Doug Cauliflower.

Dominick Correy of the Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation highlighted developments at that historic venue, from Olympic preparations to innovative campaigns like the “Lasting Legacy.” The night also included tickets for upcoming UCLA games!

Nikki Winslow encouraged participation in the  open Altadena Library Trustee seat. Representatives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, California Highway Patrol, and LA County Fire shared year-end updates. Highlights included successful toy drives, fire safety reminders, and a shared appreciation for community collaboration during challenging times.

Supervisor Barger swore in the incoming Council members ViEyvette Stewart-Gordon, Nic Arnzen, Darlene Greene, Connor Cipolla, Milissa Marona, Isis Moulden, and Adam Vourvoulis. The Council also approved its new Executive Committee Chair Victoria Knapp, Vice Char Nic Arnzen, Treasurer Milissa Marona, Recording Secretary Kim Yu and Corresponding Secretary Connor Cipolla.

With the holiday spirit in the air, the meeting adjourned on a note of gratitude, camaraderie, and a shared commitment to Altadena’s thriving future. As Chair Victoria Knapp put it, “Altadena is unique and vibrant, and 2024 was meaningful. Here’s to celebrating 50 years of the Council in 2025”!
