Glendale’s first-ever arts colony and affordable housing development is accepting applications and the deadline is near!
ACE/121 is a unique affordable housing opportunity for artists that’s not limited to residents of Glendale — artists from throughout the region are welcome and encouraged to apply, regardless of where they currently live or work. The application deadline for ACE/121 is this coming Tuesday, July 5, 2016.
Qualification
A wide range of creative fields qualify, including the visual arts, dance, music, literature, design, architecture, theater, film, new media, and even arts administrators!
Amenities
ACE/121 is slated to open in early fall of this year, and will feature an array of amenities to support residents’ artistic practices and foster a vibrant creative community.
Special amenities include:
- A street-level gallery and performance space
- A fully-equipped art studio and workshop
- A state-of-the-art media lab
- Two music practice rooms
- A rehearsal space
- And a computer center for children
Households earning between 30 and 60 percent of the L.A. County medium income are eligible, with one, two, and three-bedroom apartments available at affordable rents determined by family size and income. To qualify for the artist preference, applicants need to complete a two-page qualifying application and a supplemental artist questionnaire, and include a curriculum vitae/resume and a minimum of three work samples that document and showcase the applicant’s art form, such as portfolio images, recordings, photographs, published works, etc.

Applications will be accepted by mail only and must be postmarked no later than Tuesday, July 5, 2016. More information about ACE/121 and the application packet are available on the its website.
The July 5 deadline does not require financial records, credit reports, etc. (this documentation will be required later in the application process).
