“To sleep, perchance to dream,” the Bard once wrote. Now four L.A. artists are sharing those dreams to help high school students achieve theirs, as part of a fundraising performance effort this Saturday and Sunday at Pasadena’s Lineage Performing Arts.

      By Melanie Hooks

About Productions presents an uplifting live theatrical production, The Art of Dreaming: A Landscape of L.A. Voices Onstage, featuring four writer-performers: Catherine Holly, Marta Portillo, Brandon Rachal, and Sayda Trujillo. The original monologues are rooted in each writer’s personal, cultural, and L.A.-centric experiences. Directed by Marlene Beltran, the production explores dreaming as both a poetic and active practice—how individuals imagine identity, belonging, perseverance, and future possibility.

On Sunday, March 29, following the matinee, the Young Theaterworks 25th Anniversary reception and silent auction will raise crucial funds for in-school residencies that provide public high school students with impactful academic and creative experiences. A $28.52 fundraiser ticket includes reserved seating.
