The Mars Exploration Rovers: A Decade of Exploration

Ten years after landing on Mars, a rover mission designed for 90 days of operation is still exploring the Red Planet.
Join JPL for a celebratory Mars Exploration Rover anniversary event on Thurs., Jan. 16, at 7 p.m. PT at Caltech’s Beckman Auditorium. Mission team members will share remembrances from the first decade of Opportunity and her twin Spirit (ceased operations in 2010), as well as a glimpse of Opportunity’s current investigations and upcoming challenges.
The event is free and open to the public. Seating is on a first come, first served basis.
Participants will include:
• Steve Squyres, principal investigator for Opportunity, Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y.
• Bill Nye, CEO of the Planetary Society, Pasadena
• Members of the MER operations team
NOTE — Beckman Auditorium is closest to South Wilson Avenue but is not visible from the street.
