One Nation. Underfed Our society has the means to feed everyone in this country. Yet 50 million people in the U.S., including one in every four children, do not know where their next meal is coming from. Through this moving and informative documentary, Conscientious Projector takes a look at the state of hunger in America and its serious economic, social and cultural implications. Directors Kristi Jacobson and Lori Silverbush examine the issues via the personal stories of people struggling with food insecurity and facing a national rise in diseases related to inadequate nutrition. Their heartrending accounts are interwoven with insights from experts including sociologist Janet Poppendieck, author Raj Patel, nutrition policy leader Marion Nestle, and activists such as Witness to Hunger’s Mariana Chilton, Bread for the World’s David Beckman, Top Chef’s Tom Colicchio, and actor Jeff Bridges, founder of the End Hunger Network . David Gist, California organizer for Bread for the World, will facilitate a community discussion following the film. The
