The public is invited to Jennifer Hall Lee’s presentation in conjunction with International Women’s Day, a celebration sponsored by the United Nations.
Her talk, liberally illustrated with images, will take the audience over her recent 6-week tour of Pakistan where she interviewed women of all ages and classes on feminism, patriarchy, and the challenge of creating social change. This trip was part of a joint venture between Lee and the Critical Thinking Forum in Pakistan. It culminated in an exhibition with the International Islamic University Islamabad and the Pakistan National Council of the Arts.
Lee will be introduced by Poly students who will conduct a Q&A session following her presentation. Parking is available on the Poly campus.
Jennifer Hall Lee said:
As my work has continued with the women of the International Islamic University, Islamabad it has been interesting to see the shifting status of women’s rights here in the United States. I am honored to speak to the students and the UNA Pasadena chapter and share my experiences in Pakistan and the interviews I conducted there with students and women throughout this fascinating nation.”
Lee’s exhibit in Pakistan will open in Pasadena this summer. It will be sponsored by United Nations Association USA Pasadena Chapter (UNA-P) among others. Further details will be forthcoming.
The UNA-USA exists to foster support within the US for the activities of the United Nations. This non-partisan organization was founded by Eleanor Roosevelt, and the Pasadena Chapter, the fourth one ever created, has operated continuously since 1947.
