At the Altadena Town Council June meeting, Julian Garcia, a principal engineer with L.A. County Public Works, provided updates on traffic safety improvements at the intersection of New York Drive and Altadena Drive.

Traffic safety improvements include adding high-visibility crosswalks, tightening the turn radius, and widening landing areas on the turns. Additionally, L.A. County Public Works determined that one of the westward through lanes on New York Drive needed to be removed to reduce confusion, and a left turn signal on Altadena Drive should be added to improve traffic flow.
Since the signal upgrade might take a few years, they proposed temporary solutions, including painting the crosswalks and lanes and using delineators to mark the adjusted areas. These interim measures aim to address the most critical issues quickly while awaiting the full signal upgrade in December.
