Debra Penberthy, a Pasadena-based singer-songwriter, will play original music from her soon-to-be critically acclaimed EP, that she is in the process of recording and is coming out in the next few months, at Throop Theater on Thursday, July 17.
The debut party is a fundraiser with $10 suggested donation. Everyone is welcome (no one will be turned away due to lack of funds).
Debra reached out to fellow musicians and comedians for a night filled with eclectic music and peppered with comedy and fun.
Some of the acts that will join Debra and her band on stage are:

♦ Nonna (Sam Keeble’s band)
♦ Eight-year-old singer Lois Delaney Hutchinson
♦ Robert Amerson, Singer-songwriter
Debra’s recording will include her song “Half the Sky,” written in tribute to the Half the Sky Movement to end systematic oppression of women and girls around world by the end of the 21st Century. This song represents the merging of her two halves–the musician and the lifetime activist for positive social change.

Debra is working with Producer, Tim Kobza, and a group of fabulous session musicians. The fundraising event is being put out together to highlight and fund the recording of her first professional EP (i.e., short CD). she’s been recording at two local, acclaimed studios, The Lair in West LA, and the Greene Room in Studio City.
♦ Here’s a preview from an internet radio with Debra singing her new song “Dream of Peace” with the backing track from her upcoming EP. She’ll be singing this and other songs with full band on Thursday night.
