In addition, social distancing for coronavirus may cause a loneliness epidemic. If you are in good health and able to help, here are few rules of thumb to follow:
- Offer a grocery ride to the local store. Be clear it’s not to buy or spend your own money, but rather as a fast transportation mode to and from the local store.
- Make a welfare check on an elderly neighbor you know. Call or stop by and talk to them from a distance.
- Buy a prepackaged food item if you’re able and bring it to the person in need (wiping it down with sanitizer before leaving.) Do not cook for them as you may contaminate the food with your own germs.
- Finally, take care of yourself first. You need to be in good health in order to take care of your family and others.
