South Pasadena Police arrested a burglary suspect Friday afternoon after a resident reported suspicious activity on Meridian Avenue.

At approximately 1:35 pm, officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Meridian Avenue following a call from a neighbor who reported hearing glass breaking at a nearby home. Believing a burglary was in progress, the caller immediately contacted police.
An officer and his partner, already patrolling in the area, arrived within seconds. Upon reaching the residence, they observed a man standing outside near a broken window. The suspect was quickly detained as additional units secured the scene.
Officers then entered the home and confirmed a burglary had occurred. The suspect, identified as Sergio Marquez, 38, of Los Angeles, was arrested and booked into the Pasadena Jail on charges of residential burglary.
