The South Pasadena Police Department made several key arrests over the weekend, responding to a variety of incidents ranging from residential burglary to a high-speed pursuit, and an armed robbery.

– March 15: Residential Burglary Suspect Arrested
On Saturday, March 15, 2025, at approximately 4:48 pm, officers responded to a hot prowl residential burglary in progress in the 800 block of Monterey Road. A “hot prowl” burglary occurs when someone other than an accomplice is present in the residence during the crime. The resident confronted the suspect, who fled the scene before officers arrived.
Officers reviewed video surveillance footage of the suspect, which was shared among responding units. A short time later, officers received a report that the suspect had returned to the area. Officers quickly responded and located the suspect, identified as 45-year-old Darrel Brown of San Pedro. Brown was arrested without incident and booked into the Pasadena City Jail. The case has been forwarded to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
– March 15: Suspect Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit and Weapon Discovery
On Saturday, March 15, 2025, at approximately 10:42 pm, South Pasadena Police officers observed a 2021 gray Honda Accord speeding in the 2000 block of Huntington Drive. Due to the excessive speed, officers initiated a traffic stop near Huntington Drive and Garfield Avenue.
The driver, identified as 25-year-old Mike Orozco of San Gabriel, failed to comply and fled the scene. Officers briefly pursued the vehicle through San Marino before terminating the pursuit for safety reasons. Moments later, the Pasadena Police Department helicopter located Orozco, who had driven to his residence, exited the vehicle, and entered his home. He later re-emerged, got back into his vehicle, and began driving away.
As officers converged on the area, the helicopter tracked Orozco’s movements and directed officers to his location. Orozco was found parked along a curb, attempting to conceal himself. After a high-risk stop, officers safely took him into custody without incident.
During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered two loaded, unregistered firearms on the driver’s side floorboard. Orozco is currently being held at the Pasadena City Jail on multiple charges, including:
- Felony evading
- Multiple weapon charges
- Driving under the influence of alcohol
– March 17: Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested
On Monday, March 17, 2025, at approximately 8:46 pm, South Pasadena Police officers responded to a report of an armed robbery in the 1700 block of Garfield Avenue. The suspect was reported to have brandished a dagger while committing the theft.
Officers located the suspect on a Metro bus leaving the area. The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Jose Floresolvera of Los Angeles, was taken into custody without incident. Officers recovered the dagger and the stolen item in Floresolvera’s possession. Floresolvera was booked into the Pasadena City Jail on a charge of robbery. The case has been forwarded to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
