The City of South Pasadena has officially launched its comprehensive site plan project, South Pas Forward, aimed at transforming the Library Park and surrounding Library and Senior Center facilities.

      By News Desk

This initiative is designed to shape the future of these essential community spaces and ensure they continue to serve as key resources for residents. As part of the planning process, the City is actively seeking input from the community to guide the development of a multi-purpose center that addresses both current and future needs.

      Project Overview and Goals

The Library Park Campus Comprehensive Site Plan focuses on assessing and addressing both the immediate and long-term needs of the community. With a vision to enhance the facilities’ infrastructure, accessibility, and environmental sustainability, the plan aims to create a space that benefits all South Pasadena residents for years to come. The City is prioritizing community feedback, inviting residents, park-goers, library visitors, and senior center patrons to participate in the process.

      Community Engagement Opportunities

To ensure that the voices of all stakeholders are heard, the City is hosting several engagement opportunities. These events will allow residents to learn more about the project and provide input that will shape the final vision for the Library Park Campus.

      Community Workshops

Residents are encouraged to attend the upcoming workshops where they can participate in discussions and activities to reimagine the space. The workshops will take place on:

      • Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.
      • Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 10:00 am to 11:30 am.

Both workshops will be held at the Library Community Room, located at 1115 El Centro St., South Pasadena.

      Open House Hours

For those unable to attend the workshops, the City is also offering open house hours for a more informal opportunity to ask questions, review the proposed plan, and share thoughts with the planning team:

      • Wednesday, April 9, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
      • Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.

These sessions will also take place at the Library Community Room.

      Pop-Up Engagement Opportunities

In addition to the workshops and open houses, residents can participate in a variety of pop-up engagement events throughout South Pasadena. These events will be held at:

      • South Pasadena Farmers Market: Thursday, April 3, 2025
      • Spring Eggstravaganza: Saturday, April 12, 2025
      • Eclectic Music Festival: Saturday, April 26, 2025
      • South Pasadena Farmers Market: Thursday, May 8, 2025

      Online Survey

For those who cannot attend in person, the City will offer an online survey to gather feedback. The survey will be available on the Library Park Campus website and at various campus locations. Community members can visit the site at southpasadenaca.gov/LPC to participate.

      Looking Forward

The development of the Library Park Campus Comprehensive Site Plan is a collaborative effort, and the City is committed to ensuring that the final plan reflects the community’s input. Mayor Janet Braun expressed excitement about engaging with residents, saying, “We are excited to engage with our community and solicit the input of our residents as we envision a Library and Community Center for the future.”
