      In the coming weeks of December and early January, South Pasadena will host multiple holiday and family-oriented events.

      Most are taking place at the South Pasadena Public Library, Community Room, and nearby Farmers Market on Meridian Ave. The city will be decorated in sparkling lights for chilly, cozy sweater weather. Below are a few events to look forward to.

      1- Annual Holiday Lighting Celebration

      Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024
      4:00 pm to 6:00 pm
      Cost: Free

      South Pasadena, 91030

      It’s the annual Holiday Kick-Off at the South Pasadena Farmers Market. There will be performances from the South Pasadena High School Marching Band, Young Stars Theatre, and more. There will be food, music, and plenty of places to walk to once the lighting is done.

      2- Friends of the South Pasadena Library Bookstore Holiday Sale

      Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024 | 11:00 am to 3:00 pm
      Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024 | 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm

      Annual Holiday Book Sale where thousands of books of all genres and editions will be sold. New, used, vintage, and collectibles will be sold. Complimentary gift wrap is also available for those who want to buy a gift for someone.

      3- Crafternoons

      Members of the Teen Advisory Board guide younger people who sign up through a craft project. Designed for kids of all ages and skill levels, the session offers a chance to create something new through the provided materials and helping hands of the teen leaders.

      4- Silent Films with Live Piano

      The South Pasadena Public Library is hosting a silent film series. All films will be screened in the Library Community Room and will be accompanied by live piano played by Michael D. Mortilla, who composed music for the Chicago Symphony, the Academy of Motion Pictures, the Library of Congress, the Olympics, and the National Film Preservation Foundation.

      5- Walk ‘n’ Talk Club

      Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025
      9:00 am to 10:00 am
      Cost: Free

      Meetings will be on the second Wednesday of every month. The event combines reading with an outdoor activity meant to encourage people to be more social when it comes to reading literature. Every month there will be a new selected book for members to read and discuss.
