Los Angeles County Board Chair and First District Supervisor Hilda L. Solis issued a statement condemning an incident at Whittier Narrows Recreation Area in which two Latino Los Angeles County Parks employees were allegedly accosted by federal immigration agents.

According to Solis, the employees were wearing County uniforms, driving County vehicles, and clearly identified themselves as County personnel when Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents questioned them about their citizenship status. Solis said the agents allegedly racially profiled and physically assaulted the workers, calling the incident “completely unacceptable” and a violation of the constitutional rights of U.S. citizens.
In her statement, Solis criticized the Trump administration, saying it continues to use fear and intimidation to target communities of color and working families. She also cited reports from the same day alleging ICE activity that targeted and detained landscapers, roofers, and construction workers.
Solis said Los Angeles County will continue to protect its employees, residents, and public spaces, and pledged to take action to hold the administration accountable for what she described as a disregard for the Constitution and democracy.
